Parathormone (also called PTH) is a hormone produced in the parathyroid glands and is involved in maintaining calcium levels in the body.
A parathormone test is done to determine whether or not the parathyroid glands are producing too much or too little PTH, which can affect the body’s ability to regulate calcium.
During a parathormone procedure, a sample of blood is taken and tested for the level of PTH. The results are then compared to normal levels to evaluate the function of the parathyroid glands.
After the parathormone procedure, the results are analyzed by your doctor and recommendations for treatment will be provided based on the results.
A parathormone is important for regulating calcium levels in the body, and a parathormone procedure can be done to measure the levels of the hormone and to assess the functioning of the parathyroid glands. Following the test, a doctor will be able to provide recommendations for further treatment if needed.
