A repair of nasal septum (septoplasty) is a surgical procedure used to correct a deviation in the nasal septum, which is the wall that separates the nostrils.
Septoplasty may be used to treat impairments of the nose such as difficulty breathing through one or both nostrils, sinus infections, deviated septum, and concha bullosa.
During the procedure, an incision is made inside the nostrils and the deviated part of the septum is repositioned, straightened, and reshaped. Any distorted nasal cartilage may also be removed.
After the surgery, your nose may be sore or swollen for a couple of days. You may also have to use nasal sprays and antibiotics for some time. You should be able to go back to work after a few days, depending on the nature of your job.
